Dubai Travel Requirements (Updated as of March 2, 2022)

UAE travel updates and COVID-19 restrictions

Since August 2020, Dubai has been open for travel and for visiting foreign nationals. Tourist Visa applications have been in operation since August 2021. According to the Bloomberg COVID Resilience Ranking, UAE is one of the safest destinations in the world, performing well on the “Vaccinated Travel Routes”.

Opulent hotels, luxury restaurants, and renowned beach destinations are open for visitors and tourists. Local and international MICE events, live entertainment events, leisure, and retail events, and other social activities can resume upon securing a permit. COVID Safety and Precautionary Measures still apply to these events.

Restrictions to entering Dubai are listed below in the travel requirements that visitors must present.

List of Travelers Allowed to Enter

  1. All UAE residents, visitors, and tourists can travel to Dubai without approval from GDRFA or ICP
  2. Visitors and tourists have to meet the Visa requirements before travel, if they are not eligible for a visa on arrival
  3. Transit travelers who will be traveling outside Dubai
    • Transit travelers are not required to present an RT-PCR Test Result unless mandated by their final destination

List of Dubai Travel Requirements

  1. COVD-19 Vaccination Certificate
  2. Negative RT-PCR Test Result from any DOH-accredited laboratories released within forty-eight (48) hours prior to travel
    • Travelers exempted from presenting a negative RT-PCR Test Result:
      • UAE Nationals
      • Inbound passengers escorting the 1st degree UAE national’s relative, given that they are traveling together
      • Domestic workers escorting a UAE national sponsor during travel, given that they are traveling together
      • Transit travelers
      • Travelers aged below 12
      • Travelers with moderate to severe disabilities
    • It is mandatory that the negative test report includes a QR Code, which is linked to the original report for verification purposes by the airlines
      • COVID 19 Vaccination Certificates without a QR Code will be accepted for travel to Dubai as long as the vaccination certificate is issued by test centers/organizations recognized/approved by the national health authorities of the country
    • RT-PCR Test Results must be in English or Arabic languages only
    • COVID 19 Vaccination Certificates or RT-PCR Test Results in other languages are accepted if they can be validated at the departure point
    • RT-PCR Test Results must be based on a molecular diagnostic test intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid for SARSCOV2 viral RNA. Rapid antigen, antibody, or any form of rapid lateral flow tests and home test kits will not be accepted
    • NHS COVID?19 Test Certificates for travel from the United Kingdom to Dubai will not be accepted
  3. Or; Valid Medical Certificate issued by the relevant authorities that the passenger has recovered from COVID-19 within a period of one (1) month from the date of recovery and the date of arrival

  5. For travelers from restricted countries

  8. Return Ticket for Tourists (a printed copy is required)
  9. For OFWs
    • A printed copy of the Overseas Employment Certificate
  10. For Tourists
    • A printed copy of Travel Insurance with COVID-19 Certificate

List of Quarantine Requirements

  • If requested, visitors must undergo a PCR test on arrival in Dubai and self-quarantine until they receive a negative result. If the visitor tests positive, they should follow the guidelines issued by the relevant Health Authority in the Emirate of Dubai.

Visitors should expect strict mask-wearing protocols in all indoor public venues, except in outdoor spaces where mask-wearing is optional. Another COVID Precautionary Measure that visitors should is frequent hand sanitation. Should a visitor test positive for COVID-19, the visitor shall bear the costs of examination and treatment.
